The Cracked Timber of Mankind

In reviewing the history of the Constitution it struck me as important to the times to acknowledge the following truths that our Founding Fathers understood and agreed to:

  1. That conflict is endemic to human life
  2. That power corrupts
  3. And therefore, a Constitution had to be created that limited the centralization of too much power to any one component of government.

It is interesting to note that The Articles of Confederation, which preceded our Constitution said, “Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled.” The states were to be all powerful.

For many reasons The Articles of Confederation did not work and the Constitution was developed giving states equal power in the Senate and the states with the most population more power in the Congress. Or a Republican form of government that has lasted for over 230 years — longer than any other governing document in the world! Our Constitution was forged by our Founding Fathers and annealed through generations with blood, sweat and tears.

Our Constitution is a collection of timeless principles, which as Steven R. Covey said in The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, “There are principles that govern human effectiveness–natural laws in the human dimension that are just as real, just as unchanging and unarguably “there” as laws such as gravity are in the physical dimension.” In other words, you can break yourself against a principles (like those in the Constitution), but you cannot break a principle.

Why do the DEMZIs keep trying to ignore, disregard or change the Constitution?

What is a Demzi?

During the years that led to WWII, the word “Nazi” was used as a derogatory term against the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP, translated in English as National Socialist German Worker’s Party.

Question: Why aren’t we calling left wing democrats Demzis?
